Process
First Contact: I schedule a free 20-minute phone consultation to get a sense of what you are hoping for in therapy and if I may be a good fit for your wants and needs. I encourage you to ask me questions about my experience, approach, training, and style to ensure you can make an informed decision about moving forward. If we agree to move forward with meeting in person or via telehealth we would schedule that appointment and I will provide you with several forms including my practice polices, Informed Consent, Client History, and HIPAA information. I appreciate you taking time to review and complete these documents prior to the first appointment as it gives us more time for talking and assessing next steps. For children and tweens, I tend to schedule the first session with a parent or caregiver.
First and Future Meetings: I typically schedule the first meeting for 60 minutes, in which we will discuss general concerns, goals, questions, and relevant history. I may provide some initial feedback about how we might approach the work or strategies would could use. If we agree that future meetings will be helpful, we would schedule a regular standing time. I generally meet with new clients weekly for 45 minutes sessions. However, I have some flexibility about the frequency and length. For example, clients interested in EMDR protocols my find it most useful to schedule 75-minute sessions. Sometimes people visit for a one-time consult, sometimes the work is short-term (8-10 sessions), while other clients prefer to meet longer-term. Other times, we might determine that another treatment modality might be better suited to meet your needs and we would work together to find the right referral.

STANDARD NOTICE: GOod Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost
Under the new law, “No Surprises Act,” health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
